My favorite moments from Nice in the French Riviera.

The sound of waves crashing against the rocks drew me in, but the infinite shades of blue encouraged me to linger. Joining the local crew in this pebble land far from the more touristy beaches, I settled into my nook as the sun slowly set in the distance, creating a lovely golden filter over everything.

How did so many shades of blue exist, and was I the only one that knew of this secret? Depending on the light, the water would shift from cerulean to lapis to cobalt, indigo to teal to sapphire, and always with an azure foundation, from which the Côte d’Azur gets its name. Oh this light! I could understand why the great artists flocked to this area and often remained for years. This was the art de vivre I so longed for and could not get enough of.

I hope these photos inspire you to visit this magical blue land and experience your own French art de vivre.
